In order to sponsor parents or grandparents, the sponsor must meet the minimum income required for the three years prior to the application date. The MNI of recent years is shown below: As part of the sponsorship application, sponsors (and, if applicable, co-signers) must include a signed commitment and sponsorship agreement. The company requires the promoter to financially support the basic needs of the person assisted for a period of 20 years. Sponsors also agree to reimburse provincial social assistance received by sponsored parents and/or grandparents during the business period. The obligation is binding regardless of a change in the status of the sponsors or its relationship with the applicant. Your spouse may be a co-signer on the sponsorship application, regardless of the length of your marriage. Your combined gross income can help you meet income requirements. You and your co-signer must provide proof of income from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the three consecutive tax years prior to the date of the sponsorship application. For an application to be considered complete, the sponsor and the principal applicant must complete the forms below and submit them all together in an envelope for each group of parents and grandparents you sponsor. Incomplete applications are returned. A child of the sponsor or child of the sponsor`s spouse or general interest partner of the promoter may be considered a dependent child if he or she is under 22 years of age and does not have a spouse or partner of general interest. Children over the age of 22 may be dependent if they rely on their parents before the age of 22 and are unable to meet their financial needs due to a mental or physical condition.
We advise the sponsor and the author of the main application to read the instructions in full and then fill out each of the applicable forms, which have been created with questions that will help you process your application. Incomplete applications are returned. A full application must contain the forms you, the sponsor, completed forms and forms filled out by the principal applicant, and be deposited in an envelope for each group of parents and grandparents you sponsor. Once the sponsorship company comes into effect on the day the person you sponsor has a permanent residence in Canada, it will remain in effect for 20 years, whether or not the sponsored person`s status changes in Canada. Please note that sponsors residing in Quebec are subject to different requirements for sponsoring immigrants. These sponsors are evaluated (and must be approved) first by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and then by the Province of Quebec. A commitment is also signed specifically with the province of Quebec. If one of the following procedures applies to you and you apply for sponsorship, your application will not be processed until a final decision has been made regarding this procedure.
